Glycolic Acid
Glycolic Acid also known as hydroacoustic acid, is one of the important and smallest acids belonging to the AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) group. It is either found naturally in some of the sugar crops but is also prepared synthetically in the chemical lab by making chloroacetic acid react with sodium hydroxide and then making it go through a re-acidification process.
Molecular formula of Glycolic Acid is C2H4O3 , which can also be written as HOCH2CO2H. It is a clear aqueous solution of soft yellow color but sometimes it may seem colorless.
